Journey through American history in this special program series honoring America250. Each month, kids and teens – along with their caregivers – are encouraged to read a historical fiction book set during a particular time period in our nation’s history. At the end of the month, the whole family is invited to join our book club meeting, where we will discuss the books we’ve read along with historical context provided by the Story Center.
For our October meeting, we will discuss books set in the 1800s, including stories that take place during the Civil War. Some of our suggested books include:
Meet Addy: An American Girl by Connie Porter
I Survived the Battle of Gettysburg, 1863 by Lauren Tarshis
Last of the Name by Rosanne Parry
